Duration: ~9 hrs | Cost(pp): ~70 GBP

A bit of a whirlwind dayzip that blends the familiar and the less known, including a skyscraper-top garden, the Buckingham Palace gardens, and the Kensington Palace and gardens, and side dashes into pubs old and new. We used the hop-on hop-off bus and a traditional cab for the experience, but it can probably be done via metro as well.

Dine in style at the Darwin Brasserie (reservation required) atop this impressive skyscraper, with panoramic views of the city. Then walk around the fun sky garden featuring a selection of Mediterranean and South African species. The garden is naturally ventilated so temps are similar to outside.

Stroll through the delightful St. James park and enjoy the fresh air and an occasional iconic view of the Buckingham Palace. The impressive change of the guards ceremony takes place 3 or 4 times a week mid mornings (check their website for latest schedule) and if you can time it right you can go see it first before your stroll.

Head on over to Big Ben and listen to the chimes every 15 minutes and at the top of the hour. Super close to the Buckingham Palace but we still took a traditional cab which was fun!

Stop at the 300-year old GOAT pub offering a classic and local drafts (see the beer photo for classic British humor) including a really good cask ale. Also offers a nice selection of lunch favorites like fish & chips with smashed peas.

Kensington Palace & Gardens
Kensington Palace & Gardens

Another fine and totally stroll-able park with beautiful flower gardens, ponds, geese, and of course a Palace! The Palace does offer paid admission and tours, providing a glimpse of royal life.

6
Holland Park
Holland Park

A small park that offers a lot - including a Japanese garden, glass and metal sculptures, and a semi-wild wooded section at the north.

7
A pint at The Swan

A traditional pub to close out the dayzip.
